I believe in the body's innate wisdom and dynamic ability to heal.
I also believe our setbacks and struggles (illness, injury, trauma, or other life stressors) have the potential to inform and empower us when we learn how to tune in to what our bodies have to say.
I have worked with clients ranging in age from teen to mid 80s, from athletes and professional dancers to busy professionals and stay-at-home parents.
I work with folks navigating chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, long viral infections, cancer (during and post treatment), joint replacement (pre- and post-op), as well as other chronic pain conditions.
I work with folks who love to move, AND I work with folks who dread exercise.
And while the goals and challenges of my clients vary greatly, accessing and developing self-compassion, releasing tension, having fun, building strength, and developing a deeper sense of body connection are often the results of our work together.
I became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2009 and then became a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2013. In 2020, I completed levels 1 and 2 of Presence Based Coaching.
I have a background in journalism (B.A. from NMSU). I spent years as a community organizer working for economic justice and affordable heath care with WACAN, as well as other organizations. I also waited tables for 15 years.
I am a mother and a lover of the beauty of our natural world.
I recently published a book of short essays and poems, called Right Now Is Here.
I am excited to continue deepening my studies of the nervous system, and am currently under mentorship in the study and application of functional neurology. This modality expands my toolkit so that I can help my clients address overlooked and underlying causes of pain, improve balance and mobility, as well as strength, and gait.
"Working with Rebecca has profoundly influenced my practice as a dance artist and educator. She has guided me to blend my movement vocabulary with strength building and recovery methods that have drastically transformed the way I move and teach." - Kate Wallich, founder of Dance Church
